You use WHAT in your hair?

So one thing I have noticed so often, while growing up, is the many different hair styles men/boys use to try to look their best. I was talking to some of the guys about this and I mentioned what I had used growing up. I was surprised at some of their products of choice

We all know there is a long list of products available - from pomades, waxes, gels, hair sprays, mousse, and much more. But what about some odd ball products?

Here are a few products you can use that will probably cost less and still get the job done.

Mohawks, Spikes, Rock Star Hair - The go-to choice would be Elmer’s Glue. I’m sure many of you have heard of people using Elmer’s glue, but have you actually done so yourself? Elmer’s glue can be bought in a $0.99 bottle and it will last you a long time. Simply pour enough to fill your palm, grab a chunk of hair, and start applying. Now I must say this product is most common in hair styles where the individual is looking for large spikes and wants them to stay there all day.

Tip: For extra strength blow dry and apply hair spray (this can hold for 1-2 weeks!)

Curls, Bounce, Style but not stiff – The go-to choice would be Petroleum Jelly. Growing up (Jr. High) this was my hair styling product. I used this stuff daily with my long beach boy/Justin Timberlake hair style. I would apply a small quarter size amount in my hand and rub it through wet hair. I made sure my hair was still wet so the water would dilute the product and help it from flaking or creating a stiff hold. After application, I would shake my head like a wet dog and let all of the curls and hair fall naturally.

Tip: This stuff does not make it stiff but if it’s windy, the product will break free and here comes the dry hair look.

Now these might sound odd, maybe not, but the final product that stuck out the most in my mind was Jell-O! No, you do not need to re-read that last sentence. You read it correctly. Jell-O was used by one of the members of TMAR and I quote “It tasted so good when you sweat it out!” The nice thing about this product is the instructions are on the product. You mix according to the package, take a scoop and apply directly. With this I would imagine you would get the same effects as Elmer’s glue but without the delicious side effects.

Tip: Mix in large volume and make Jell-O shots with left over material! You can also add dry Kool-Aid to the mix for hair color variance.

These are just a couple of the odd prodcuts that are available. Whatever you use, be confident and experiment until you find what works for you.
